Tripadvisor (www.tripadvisor.com) has provided me with a wealth of information when I’ve been researching a trip. I use this site to search for reviews on lodging and restaurants. Their Forum section posts questions and answers from a huge variety of persons which is particularly helpful because you ‘hear it all’. Many participants will post links to their photos, which I always find particularly helpful (as well as interesting). When I am traveling, I typically take photos of the rooms I stay in and add information in my journal. This is valuable information when I scrapbook but it also allows me to express my opinion on Tripadvisor (as well as share some photos). If you sign up on their website, you have the option of allowing others to contact you. I’ve had contacts over the past few years, particularly from solo women travelers, which have blossomed into on-line friendships. I find it very rewarding helping others, especially with Africa questions, to alleviate any stress that they can avoid.
